About Ed
Ed Carnes is a technology executive with over 30 years of progressively responsible technology and business management experience - domestic and international - in high-tech and numerous other industries and has worked for companies such as EDS, Perot Systems, NCR, Dell, and Sony/ATV Music Publishing. In addition, Ed has founded two of his own businesses, an Information Technology Consulting company and a Managed Services Provider company.
Ed has held P&L responsibility from the department and division to corporate international levels. His track record includes management of global technology teams and budgets, creation and direction of an international consulting practice, planning and creation of numerous technology re-engineering implementations, and cost-saving initiatives in the US and UK. Ed is adept at creating organization from chaos and fixing IT issues. His core competencies include financial savvy, technical expertise, and understanding of new concepts quickly and efficiently.
Ed is a champion Fiddle player and has won titles in 5 states and was Runner-up in two National Fiddle competitions. He has co-founded a U.S. IRS 501(c)(3) charitable corporation to educate about and perpetuate fiddling as an art form and cultural treasure, three non-profit companies related to fiddling and music education, and a non-profit technology trade organization. He is an accomplished and National Oldtime Fiddlers’ Contest Qualified fiddle judge and has two solo recordings of his music available. He is featured on several fiddle music collections and has appeared on the WSM Grand Ole Opry multiple times.
Ed has been named an Honorary Kentucky Colonel, served as a member of the Microsoft Partner Research Panel, and earned both a Bachelor of Computer Science degree and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. He is a native of Kentucky and has a wife and two grown children.
