Project Highlights
Created a nonprofit corporation to support, educate and perpetuate the art of fiddling and traditional music. Serve as EVP and COO as well as Vice-Chairman of the Board. Co-organizer of the main annual event, the "Grand Master Fiddler Championship". Developed all corporate setup and materials and manage the day to day operations, finances, marketing, and relationship building efforts.
Created a limited liability corporation to provide information technology and management consulting with an internet presence and full financials and negotiated partnerships to offer complete set of services with immediate profitability. Developed a strategic plan to focus on the small/medium business and residential market and deliver Microsoft Consulting and Project/Risk management for large corporate markets. Innovated a rapid website design and deployment model allowing businesses to be online in one day.
Created a geographically dispersed international I.T. team to address needs of major music publishing company in 40 offices in 35 countries utilizing insourcing and outsourcing, packaged applications selection and implementation, and implemented financial tracking for all facets of IT spending focusing on cost containment, fiscal responsibility and vendor accountability and performed CIO functions for corporate subsidiary.
Directed Professional Services business development consulting opportunities for a technology company, managing a multi-million dollar budget and team of employees and partners. Created infrastructure processes to track customer opportunities and ensure effective services selling process, initiated Project management procedures to ensure smooth delivery, and reworked customer proposals and contracts to refine and clear ambiguities. Revamped financials, customer, and people issues into services-based business model. Rebuilt financials and P&L for the area to set a firm base for rapid services business expansion.
Developed and led staff of over 90 people (13 managers) across 12 countries with a $20 million plan, concentrating on technology consulting solutions covering Applications, Microsoft, UNIX, and Networking. Led Marketing and Sales strategies, with Initiatives in E-Commerce, Microsoft and Emerging Technology offers, Pre-Sales, and development of Windows 2000 Consulting programs and acted as Microsoft Global Alliance Manager and coordinated relationship coordinated certifications efforts for Microsoft, Cisco and Nortel areas.
Developed Year 2000 UNIX Upgrade program and created a multi-million dollar practice area to support the program. Responsible for selling and staffing activities in area, directing efforts to create annual revenue flow in the millions of dollars per year while minimizing expenses and maximizing employee and customer satisfaction.
Personal
Ed Carnes is an honorary Kentucky Colonel and Champion Amateur Fiddle Player, winning state titles in five states as well as regional and national titles such as Mid-America Champion and runner-up in the Grand Master Fiddler Championship in Nashville, Tennessee.
In his spare time, Ed is one of the organizers of the Grand Master Fiddler Championship Inc, a Tennessee nonprofit, charitable corporation formed to promote fiddling and traditional music, as well as a member of the Nashville Technology Council, Microsoft Certified Partner program, Nashville SQL Server User Group and Nashville Visual Studio.NET User Group. His remaining spare time is spent with his family, fiddling, traveling, working out at the gym, or hitting the golf course. |
